Our trip to the Romeo and Juliet play in the Herrenhäuser Gärten
As Shakespeare´s famous play Romeo and Juliet is our theme for this semester, Mrs Judge (Frau Richter), our English teacher, has decided to book tickets for a Romeo and Juliet play in the princely garden theatre of the Herrenhäuser Gärten. We went there on Saturday, August 13, 2016. The performance started at 8:30 p.m. when it started getting dark. The ensemble Persona from Munich, consisting of young professional actors, performed under the direction of Tobias Maehler. Although the play was not in English, we enjoyed it very much, since the atmosphere at the theatre was exceptional. We had nice seats and the acoustics were all right. The theatre was set outdoors, which made us fear the play would be canceled if it rained. But we were lucky…it only rained two minutes after the play had ended. When we left the theatre, we were accompanied by beautiful baroque music and the light of the illuminated garden. It was an extraordinary experience.
Thank you to Mrs Judge, who made it possible for us to experience such a nice performance.
